Blade Cutting Speed
Relatively speaking, the cutting capacity of the Makita 5104 Circular Saw is larger, therefore it can handle thicker materials. This is something that standard circular saws may not offer, not at least at such a valuable cost.
The optimal cutting capacity is 3-3/4-inches at 90-degrees and 2-3/4-inches at 45-degrees. So it has dual bevel cutting depth for precise and exact angling. Something that beginners and professionals alike can make uses of.
Now the standard cutting capacity, that I’ve found in my hands-on testing, is just one-third of this circular blade. So the Makita is definitely better, wider, and more particular about its cutting capacity than the average lineup of circular saws.
On top of the large cutting capacity, the Makita is well-supported with sturdy and solid framing. It also has plenty of intricate safety features in place that gets the job done. Such as the strong 14 amp motor, blade guards, and shields, and electronic brake stop.
The electronic brake takes about 2 seconds to stop the blade from spinning. This is a HUGE step-up from the average 10-second timing of average circular saws with electronic brakes. The 14 amp motor packs a solid punch by reversing the electric charge to halt the brake and prevent kickback or an uncomfortable screeching sound.
There are also some features that you may have already used or heard of. Basic but inaccurate if not configured correctly. In this Makita, however, everything feels smooth, dynamic, and seamless. So it’s these very basic features that shine forth. Because of the wider diameter for cutting, the blade guards and shields are easier to handle than narrower cutting blades.
This allows more room for experimentation and angling intricate cuts. Combined with the electronic brake, it stops in no time with the trigger release. So any accidental damage to the circular saw itself (or to you) is fortunately avoided.
The shaft lock feature makes blade changing a breeze and very comfortable. The circular saw is efficient and overall very easy to handle. Both the cutting blade and the features that improve their ease of use are well-polished to prevent rusting and wear and tear.
So it’s capable of taking on a lot more than it looks like it can. It’s perfect for everyday use. With a slightly more durable design packed in a 20.3-lbs lightweight and well-balanced body.
There is a dust-blowing mechanism in this Makita 5104 that is better and more efficient. It’s larger than standard sizes. The ejection port is and it ejects air that keeps dust away at a larger distance. Maintaining a sawdust-free area on and around the circular saw so you won’t have to deal with the mess right away.
This Makita also features an adjustable guide for better accessibility. You can easily align the notches on the base to the correct angle back to the cutting line. So everything that is supposed to be seen (by you) is clearly visible.
And speaking of better visibility, the circular saw also features larger-than-standard knobs and levers for adjustments. Improving ease of use while also ensuring one-handed operation without any risks or accidents or damages.
The housing has 3 handles – one at the top, the front, and the back. This boosts control, user-friendliness, and convenience tremendously.
