Description
Corded Design Yet Convenient and Flexible
Let’s face the truth – the DEWALT DWS520K 6-1/2-Inch Circular Saw is a corded power tool. This means it ties you to a power source. Now this, no doubt, may be less favored since the invention of the cordless models, which are certainly more convenient and flexible to use. No matter the task at hand!
But then when the corded version is as high-performing as the current circular saw, you get the upper hand in terms of working through tough materials the most effortlessly. The DWS520K, without the shadow of a doubt, is a heavy-duty tool fit for just about any undertaking, professional or otherwise. Something you may not get with cordless!
Corded circular saws like these are also quite impressive as far as bevel stops and cutting depth are concerned. These specifications too are higher in the case of corded than cordless. And then you have the whole hassle of the battery running out of juice and re-charging the cordless circular saw all the time. Something non-existent with corded!
With a powerful corded tool like this, you can make cuts on extremely tough materials. DEWALT’s integrated 1,300-watt motor, with a speed of 4,000 RPM, is packed with sufficient strength for cutting traditional building and woodworking materials, along with cutting hardwoods.
On top of that, there’s the straight plunge mechanism. What this does is allows you to perform splinter-free, clean, and smooth inside breaks. And let me also not forget to rave about the dust port (1-1/4 inches – standard size). It keeps the working area 90-percent mess-free – just what you need if you’re a serious or professional woodworker!
Precise, Straight Cuts (Blade Design)
Time to talk about the blade and its cutting accuracy. DEWALT DWS520K features a 6-1/2 inch blade (it says so in the title of the product itself). The design includes 48 precise ground teeth and a laser-cut plate. Hence, exceptional cutting accuracy is a part of the experience.
The maximum cutting depth you can achieve is 2-1/8 inches with max. 90-degree bevel capacity. And at 45 degrees, the cutting depth is 1-5/8 inches. Therefore, cutting through a variety of elements is not only possible but very easy and convenient as well.
The tracksaw here functions through an aluminum track that’s highly slip-resistant. As a result, the door to making accurate, straight, and smooth adjustments is wide open.
Furthermore, I think you would also like to know that the zero-clearance track structure features anti-splinter edges. Thus, placing the precise location of the cut into full view, which, in turn, makes the trim position easy and efficient.
And on further inspection, what was also discovered and well-appreciated was the underside of the track equipped with double friction lines for grabbing the material.
Additional Features
This 4,000-RPM tracksaw by DEWALT is an incredibly powerful tool that demands no extra physical effort on your part. All you have to do is use the circular saw for your job, which can vary from one thing to another because of the adjustable cutting depth. So the basics are pretty much covered, all thanks to the powerful motor and well-crafted blade.
Now let’s talk about some advanced/additional features that are also a part of this model, like other best circular saws out there. After all, extra functions like these speed up and further simplify the task at hand. Such as a dust collection port, in this case, a dust management system that keeps most of the debris and dust away during operation.
Then there’s also the brand’s anti-kickback feature. This is put in place for additional control. In simple words, more safety is infused into the woodworking experience. Continuous anti-kickback allows the tracksaw to move forward on that track and not kickback.
Oh and the low-profile design of the blade guard ensures that use in limited or confined spaces is not a worry at all. So despite it being a corded power tool and all, versatility and flexibility are a part of the mix.
And the tracks here are double-edged by the way, in case I haven’t mentioned that already. Do you know what that means? This means you can make the straightest cuts in either direction. And obviously, you already know about the zero-clearance cutting mechanism that gives splinter-free, straight, and precise cuts (discussed in Blade Design above).
